The Moment For Kelly Clarkson
It has been a long time we didn’t hear about Kelly Clarkson, which was known as the first winner of the successful FOX TV show American Idol, “Thankful” is her debut studio album, released in the United States by RCA on April 15, 2003. I remember I first found it when browsing on an online wholesale seller which mainly supplies different kinds of powerful green lasers where to buy laser pointer at low price. I gave it a try, then I was attracted to the first single “Breakaway” immediately. After receiving the CD and my laser pointer, this CD had been being played over and over again since I got the package from mailman.
Kelly Clarkson’s debut effort blows her competition out of the water. With a mix of R&B, Blues, Jazz, Dance, and even some Alternative, this girl is the definitive pop star, and she can be damn proud of it. She is not to be compared to the likes of Avril Lavigne or Britney Spears, for her voice reaches astronomical levels not normally heard from young artists in mainstream pop music. Her strong, emotional voice brings to mind a young Mariah or Whitney, only with its own distinctive qualities, and the songs on this album are all worthy of her astonishing pipes.
Here are 13 tracks on the album. I love most of them so much. These are my own reviews to the songs I am hooked on as follows:
The Trouble With Love Is - This song starts the album off with a gospel sound which focuses on the aspects of love and is awesome and displays her vocal range. It is really reminds of the first single from young Mariah “Vision Of Love”, but it’s weaker than that classic.
Miss Independent - Christina and another person started writing it but never finished the song and Kelly ended up recording it and wrote the bridge part. Obviously you can tell Christina Aguilera wrote some of this..the beginning is very like sultry and then the chorus is amazing. Kelly pulls the song off okay, but it could have been better by Christina. And you could hear this song at some parties under the rays of blue ray laser and green laser pointer.
Anytime - This is a soulful power ballad. I’m listening to this song as I’m typing and I can’t stop hitting repeat. This is the strongest ballad and expresses how she feels about that special person in her life and how she wants him to know she’ll be his endless support. This should be a single definitely.
A Moment Like This - I’ve heard this a billion times during American Idol…so Ive got a bit tired of it when released on the album. However, this rerecorded version is even better than the original she recorded. Anyhow, this is a meaningful song.
You Thought Wrong - Duet with Tamyra Gray which is another singer from American Idol, this song has a destiny’s child vibe, R&B with Rock mixed in. Their voices definitely compliment each other. The beat is odd, but you just rock out to it and sounds like a duet with Patti and Aretha.
As a whole, Kelly Clarkson has established herself as a true artist with her debut album. I am looking forward to hearing from her for many years to come.
